Privacy policy

TheLearningLoop is a free learning site. This page explains what information it handles. You can use every lesson without an account.

What we collect

  • If you create an account: your email address, a display name, and your password, which we store only as a one-way hash, never in readable form. We also keep your lesson progress, a record of sign-in sessions (including your browser's user-agent text), and a short security log of account events that stores a hashed form of your IP address, not the address itself.
  • If you do not have an account: your lesson progress is saved only in your own browser (local storage) and never sent to us.
  • Technical data: like any web server, ours sees your IP address and browser details when you load a page. We use your IP address temporarily to limit repeated sign-in or sign-up attempts.
  • If you write to us: your email address and message.

Why we use it

To run your account, save your progress, send verification and password-reset emails, protect the site from abuse, understand which lessons are useful, and reply to you. We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies and similar storage

  • Essential: sign-in and security cookies (an access token, a refresh token, a CSRF token and a flag that says you have a session) set only when you sign in or use account features, plus local storage for your theme and, if signed out, your progress. The site does not work properly for signed-in users without these.
  • Analytics: if analytics is enabled, we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It sets its own cookies. We do not load it if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, or if an ad blocker is detected.
  • Advertising: the site may show ads to pay for hosting. If ads are turned on, the ad provider may use cookies to show and measure ads. Ads never appear inside simulations, interview answers or account pages.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies means you cannot stay signed in.

Who else handles your data

We use service providers to run the site: our hosting provider, our email delivery provider for account emails, Google (analytics) and, when enabled, an advertising provider. They process data on our behalf or under their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept while your account exists. Sign-in sessions expire automatically. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account details and progress. Security logs hold only hashed IP addresses and may be kept briefly afterwards for abuse prevention.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or close your account, by emailing connect.thelearningloop@outlook.com from the address on your account. We will reply as soon as we can.

Security

Passwords are hashed, the site is served over HTTPS, and the database is not reachable from the internet. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

Children

TheLearningLoop is meant for students and professionals and is not directed at children under 13. If you think a child has given us personal information, email us and we will remove it.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. See also our terms of service.
